Spear of the Nation Cape Tour Special – an audience with author Jacques Pauw.

Robin Binckes of ‘Spear of the Nation’ is proud to offer (in conjunction with Wilderness Safaris) a unique opportunity to meet well-known South African author Jacques Pauw.

Investigative journalist and author, Jacques Pauw’s latest book ‘The President’s Keepers’ has been causing a stir in the public domain as it reveals published accounts alleging extensive corruption by South African President, Jacob Zuma and others within government circles. The book reached #2 on Amazon’s best sellers list. Pauw, twice winner of CNN’s African Journalist of the Year, was a founder member and assistant editor of the anti-apartheid Afrikaans newspaper Vrye Weekblad and was the first journalist to expose the existence of South African Apartheid police death squads in 1989.

It is a leisurely one hour drive from Cape Town to the Swartland town of Riebeek Kasteel. Here you will be met by Sam Rogers, wife of Jacques Pauw at the Red Tin Roof Guest House. Enjoy typical ‘Boere’ mid-morning coffee, rusks and melktert. Sam will then accompany guests to meet Anton Espos at the Wine Kollective. Anton is a recognized authority on wines of the Swartland region, which is home to some of the oldest vineyards in South Africa. Enjoy a wine tasting at one of the top estates in the area before returning to the Red Tin Roof for a three course lunch featuring local food and superb wines.

Then join Jacques for a discussion on ‘The current South African Political Landscape’ with ample opportunity for questions and answers. Really ‘get under the skin’ of where South Africa has come from, the current status and something of what the future holds – from a couple who have researched and reported on (in depth) the current affairs of this amazing country of ours.
